by V. N. Shunkov, Harvest, hard cover, 8" x 10¼", 334 pages, 1997. Russian text. Complete specs, line drawings, and photo (or illustration) of every Russian, allied, and enemy tank and armored reconnaissance and fighting vehicle from 1919 through WWII (141 total). Tanks, tank destroyers, armored personnel carriers (APC), reconnaissance vehicles (wheeled and tracked), gun trucks, scout cars, half tracks, etc. Includes Russian-manufactured vehicles, ones provided to Russia on Lend Lease, Allied vehicles, as well as enemy (German) tanks too. Basically every armored vehicle active in the Eastern Front in WWII. Each vehicle is shown in a side, front, rear, and top profile view with all dimensions and specs, which is rare to find in any tank reference book, even Jane's.
    The book is
restricted for sale in Russia only
but I managed to get one out on a trip to Russia in 1999. I don't know of another one before or since and, as editor/publisher of
    Military Vehicles
magazine, I probably would have heard. Today this book is not just scarce; it's just plain not available outside the Soviet Union.
Don't let the Russian text put you off; it can be easily translated using Google Translate with the on-screen Russian keyboard. It takes time, but it's accurate (according to a Russian friend).
