  • Condition: This original, restored, Half Sheet (22" x 28"), Flat movie poster displays solid, gorgeous colors with excellent detail of the images on a basically pristine background. Only one minor flaw appears in the image area. It is a very faint, whitish, horizontal line/marking near the bottom in the blue area from "Producer" to "Associate". The poster was previously Folded with one vertical and one horizontal Fold which are now inconspicuous and are not visible due to restoration. There is wear at the bottom right corner (1.5"), including at the NSS warning, with slight tinges of red. There is a small (1/4") vertical tear at the top outermost border above the "?". There is very slight wear at the top left corner tip. There are no pin holes, no tape or tape residue, and no soiling or smudging. There is no loss of paper or color. The poster is on low to medium stock paper and has a low to low/medium gloss. The reverse is clean. Please review the photos carefully.

    This is the Original (1sh) 1951 movie poster
    THE THING FROM ANOTHER WORLD.
    It was used by
    RKO
    to promote this movie when it was released in 1951.  It is not a reprint nor a reproduction.  The movie stars
    Kenneth Tobey, Margaret Sheridan, Robert Cornthwaite,
    Douglas Spencer, James Young, Dewey Martin, and William Self.
    It was directed by Christain Nyby and Produced by Howard Hawks.
    Although if you see the introduction to the movie on TCM, they say that Hawks actually did most of the directing and was only helping out friend Christian Nyby to get his "Director's Card" or something like that by being listed as the Director.
    This restored movie poster is Flat and measures 22" x 28".
    We are storing it Flat and it will be mailed Flat.  We believe by storing and mailing it Flat that this will better help to preserve its integrity and grade, rather than rolled.  Prior to restoration, the poster had been Folded.  Most original movie posters prior to 1985 are Folded.  This is not considered a flaw or a defect.
    This original movie poster is graded C8.5 Very Fine to Near Mint.
    Original movie posters are graded as follows from the top down: C10 (Mint), C9 (Near Mint), C8 (Very Fine), C7 (Fine/Very Fine), C6 (Fine or Very Good), C5 (Good to Very Good), C4 (Good), etc.
    Prior to restoration, this original movie poster was graded a C7 Fine/Very Fine.  Restoration corrected several chips in the corners, minor tears along the outer borders, Fold wear and some separation at the cross Folds (a cross Fold being where a vertical Fold line meets a horizontal Fold line) and a tear on the lower half of the poster/image area
    .
    The poster now displays beautifully with only very minor flaws, most occurring along the outer borders.

    has excellent investment value.  Most of the original movie posters and memorabilia from the incredible two decades of sci-fi and horror in the 1950s and 1960s always have great demand from fans and collectors alike. And we believe that the Half Sheet (22" x 28") of the original movie poster
    THE THING FROM ANOTHER WORLD
    is much rarer than it's companion One Sheet (27" x 41").  And some may find the Half Sheet more interesting visually than the One Sheet.  Either way, this original movie poster will make a fantastic and rare addition to any original movie poster collection, particularly any collection that focuses on sci-fi and horror.
    The movie is based upon the 1938 book by John W. Campbell called
    WHO GOES THERE?
    .  A great adaption but if you look into it, which I have since I love all of
    THE THING
    movies, the 1982 remake by John Carpenter is more in line with the 1938 novel.
