Up for your consideration is a replica late war BANDOLEER REPACK KIT FOR THE M1 GARAND, consisting of six cardboard sleeves to hold six 8-round clips, 4 different ammunition lot reference cards, an unmarked WW2-style 6-pocket bandoleer and black safety pin.
The primary small arms rifle ammunition used by the U.S. during WWII was the .30-caliber round produced for the M1903 Springfield and M1 Garand. The ammunition came packaged in 20-round boxes, or cloth bandoleers. The bandoleer provided a means of carrying ammunition in an easily accessible manner. A protective cardboard sleeve covered the bullet tips to prevent tearing of the bandoleer fabric, and there were three different versions of sleeve used with the 8-round clips during the war. The first and second versions were tall, similar to that used with the 5-round clips. Mid-war a notch was added to the second version sleeve, making it easier to grasp the clips for removal. The late-war version was shortened so that it only covered the rounds and not the clip, and this version was used until the end of .30-06 production.
Each "Buy It Now" single purchase is for one late-war bandoleer repack kit for the M1 Garand. The kit contains a WW2-style unmarked replica bandoleer, 6 short cardboard sleeves to hold six 8-round clips, 4 different lot data cards, and a black safety pin.
