    Description

Here is an excellent condition Bassett Lowke S. S. Reliance. The Reliance led a rather disjointed and complex life. Built in Germany Pre-WWI it survived the war and became a War Reparation ship for the Allies and it was promised to the Dutch for they lost so many of their passenger ships to German U-boats during the war. The Reliance was name was changed to a Dutch name at some time in the late 1910s. It served with the Dutch passenger liner fleet and then with the German Passenger line fleet. It mysteriously was burned to a wreck in 1938 in what was believed to be an arson fire. It was scrapped for its metal at the beginning of WWII. The model again is in excellent condition having spent its life in a nice glass display box in an old salts collection. There are no missing parts to the ship. It is obviously quite fragile. It has the original Bassett Lowke Reliance label on the base/ bottom of the model. The model is 6 1/4 inches long. You will receive the model and glass case if you acquire this model. Any questions please ask and thanks for looking.
