Antique Tibetan Leather Tinder Pouch, Chuckmuck, Mechag Superb Condition
This listing is for a museum quality (or better than, see reference piece linked below) antique Tibetan or Chinese Metal and Leather tinder pouch with the original silk cord featuring a multi-part cast brass and shell stop. The cord measures approximately 35" long in total and unfurls into a flat ribbon that is intricately woven, just as fascinating as the Chuckmuck itself in my opinion. The body of the object measures 3-1/4" wide by 2" tall not including the top loop. The piece is axe shaped with mixed silver, brass, and steel showing symbols on the lower metal portion both on the front and back. The center plate is embellished with several characters backed by woven texture. The leather has hardened but is still pliable enough to open. The clasp is intact and working. One must be careful to gently push the front flap downward before lifting the cover open. There is very little oxidation on this piece. It is in overall amazing condition given the age and would look great in any collection.
